Supporting you

It is common for brain injury survivors to often feel lost and alone after their lives have been inexplicably turned upside down.
Our charity assists those in recovery and provides a place for them to talk to others who are experiencing a similar journey.
People who have suffered an acquired brain injury have several ways to find out whether they are eligible to access our service. This includes:
- Self-referral
- GP referral
- Hospital referral (Multi disciplinary Team)
- HSC – Adult Social Services
Headway work closely with the neurological team at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital to provide the best continuity of care following hospital discharge.
Cognitive Modules
We offer cognitive modules that teach individuals how to cope with their brain injury. Our modules encourage Headway members to build their confidence, learn new skills, and support each other in a safe and private environment. We cover a variety of topics, including understanding brain injury, memory, confidence, communication, relationships, and readjustments skills.
Socials
There is a regular programme of social events which occur monthly and are facilitated by Headway staff. Social events have included wall climbing, fishing, cinema evening, tennerfest meal, chips on the beach, theatre visit and many more. The social evenings enable members to have the opportunity to re-integrate into the community whilst having fun!
Family Group
Headway Guernsey recognises the importance of family and support networks in these circumstances. We ensure that families are educated and provided with confidential support and guidance to help them navigate the challenges of dealing with the effects of brain injuries.
Our extended family of supporters and friends
Being part of the KGV community hub enables us to regularly interact with other charitable organisations such as Bailiwick Social Prescribing, The Community Foundation and The Health Improvement Commission all of whom have established offices within the KGV building. KGV is an ideal central location, with disability access and plentiful parking. All of the KGV staff are great to work with and the groundmen/site team are particularly generous with their time in supporting our Team.
