First Headway Guernsey London Marathon spot!
Delighted to share that after years of applying for a Headway Guernsey marathon spot, we have finally been allocated a space with all proceeds raised going to Headway Guernsey. Who would be willing to undertake such a challenge?! Service Manager Orla-Marie’s big brother Ruairi, that’s who! Ruairi has previously volunteered for us and we are all cheering him on as he tackles the training for a few months time.
Ruairi said “It’s an honour and a privilege to represent Headway Guernsey in the 2020 London Marathon!!! This wonderful charity cares for the entire population of our dear Island. It helps the service users and their families cope with brain injuries and the significant impact it has on their day to day lives. They provide guidance, a safe place to discuss the changes the service users are experiencing and most important of all, emotional and physical support to all involved. Originally a support group for people who had acquired brain injuries, Headway Guernsey won the community foundation ‘Charity of the year’ and in 2019, received the Queens Award for Voluntary Service! The body of staff and volunteers at Headway Guernsey, who donate their precious time and efforts to support those less fortunate than themselves, have created a service of care and compassion, consultancy, rehabilitation and community. If you’ve been affected by a brain injury, or know someone that struggles with one, please make a donation to my page and help improve the lives of countless islanders today!”
Thank you Ruairi for your dedication to our cause, your time, energy and sore feet are very much appreciated. To find out more or to donate please click on the link below….
